I am still what I consider a new Christian. I received Christ about 12 years ago. But, really I only fully accepted Him in my heart as my Lord 5 years ago. Through the church my family is members of, Tuckston UMC, and the Walk to Emmaus my walk has grown and I have learned more of what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ. But, what has really taught me the definition of love others and servant hood is serving at The Sparrows Nest. I got involved begrudgingly, taking clothes to the clothes closet for my wife, I was asked to help serve lunch for Food for Friends. I was blown away what an awesome ministry. I now serve almost every Thursday at lunch and to worship along side of people I once tried to avoid has opened my eyes to our Lord's love for everyone, what a blessing. I now call these people my friends and brothers in Christ.
It is an honor and a blessing for me to serve and be a part of The Sparrows Nest Ministry. This ministry has helped me see the real meaning of one of my favorite scriptures.
Philippians ch.:2 3-5
"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better
than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but to the interests
of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus."
